In Mold Decoration Manufacturer FAQ

What are the challenges of IMD?

IMD is a complex and highly specialized process. From concept to product release, there are challenges at every stage of the development process.

The mold decoration is a one-step process compared to a multi-step process after molding decoration. Therefore, mold design is a key factor.

1) Place the in-mold labels (front and rear labels) in the label box in advance.

2) With the opening of the mold, the robot will suck up the front and rear labels.

3) Place the printed label on both sides of the mold with the printed label facing inward and the solid glue facing outward. The vacuum holes on the mold will firmly stick the label on the mold.

4) When the raw material of the plastic container is heated and sags into a hose, the mold and the label are quickly closed, and to make the hose close to the mold wall, the air is blown into it. It is still relatively warm inside the whole mold at this time. The label solid adhesive next to the prototype container began to melt and adhere to the plastic container.

5) When the mold is opened, the plastic container is formed, and the label and the container are integrated.

  • Enhance the anti-counterfeiting function of the product, which is more in line with the brand protection needs of high-standard enterprises.
  • The in-mold labeling is beautifully printed, which greatly improves the packaging quality.
  • The appearance is novel and beautiful, it is not easy to fall off and damage, and it is waterproof, oil-resistant and mildew-proof.
  • Improve the health and safety of packaged products, and prevent environmental pollution caused by secondary printing and labeling.
  • The overall cost is significantly lower than traditional labels
  • Excellent recovery performance, no secondary pollution.

Our preference is the 3D CAD files, such as STP, STEP, X-T, IGS.

Send us CAD files (such as STEP format), and tell us the quantity, material, surface finish, color, or other requirements you need, then we will check and evaluate, and give you a suggestion for the part design and quote you.
